What to see

Kuzguncuk climbs a narrow valley up from the water. Its main street, Icadiye Caddesi, is lined with restored timber houses, cafés and a community garden; by the shore stand the mosque and the Armenian church side by side.

An hour or two is enough to wander, then continue along the shore to Beylerbeyi Palace (about 20 minutes on foot) or south to Üsküdar.

It is quiet on weekday mornings and busy with locals on weekend afternoons.

Getting there

From Üsküdar (ferries, Marmaray, M5 metro) it is a 25-minute walk north along the shore, or a few stops by bus.
