Istanbul Naval Museum

What to see

The boat hall holds the ornate imperial caïques once rowed along the Bosphorus; the main building covers Ottoman and Turkish naval history with ship models, paintings, uniforms and navigation instruments. The tomb of the admiral Barbaros Hayreddin Pasha stands in the small park next door.

The navy's portal does not publish a ticket price or visiting hours; check at the door, or ask the museum by e-mail before a special trip.

Getting there

Beside Beşiktaş ferry pier. Ferries run to Beşiktaş from Üsküdar, Kadıköy and the Princes' Islands; buses on the Kabataş–Beşiktaş road stop at Beşiktaş İskele, Beşiktaş Meydan and Akaretler (the museum's own transport page).
