What to see

Behind a garden of carved tombstones, the octagonal semahane — the hall where the ceremony of turning was performed — is surrounded by galleries. The rooms around it show musical instruments, costumes and manuscripts of the order.

Allow 45 minutes. It sits halfway down Galip Dede Caddesi between İstiklal Avenue and Galata Tower.

Ceremonies and concerts held here are separate events with their own tickets; they are not covered here.

Getting there

Two minutes from the Tünel end of İstiklal Avenue (Tünel funicular from Karaköy, or Şişhane station on the M2 metro).
