What to see

The galleries run around a courtyard of the grand vizier's palace. Seljuk and Ottoman carpets, manuscripts, calligraphy, woodwork and metalwork span the history of the Islamic world, and a ground-floor section shows nomadic and village life.

Allow one and a half to two hours.

It faces the Blue Mosque across the Hippodrome, so it fits easily into a Sultanahmet day.

Getting there

On the west side of the Hippodrome, two minutes from Sultanahmet stop on the T1 tram.
