What to see

The iron sections were made in Vienna and shipped down the Danube and across the Black Sea; assembled on the waterfront, they were painted to look like stone. A long restoration completed in 2018 brought back the gilded iconostasis and the colours of the interior.

Fifteen to thirty minutes. It is a working church: dress modestly and keep quiet during services.

Visiting hours are not published on a page we could read, so treat opening as uncertain. It sits at the start of the Balat walk.

On the Golden Horn shore road between Fener and Balat; buses from Eminönü stop right outside.
