What to see

From the ferry, walk up into the market streets around Güneşlibahçe Sokak — fishmongers, delis, spice and coffee shops — then south through Moda's streets of cafés and bookshops to the park and promenade along the water.

Half a day is ideal, and the ferry across from Eminönü or Karaköy is half the fun. Sunset from the Moda shore looks back over the old city.

Evenings and weekends are busy; mornings are best for the market.

Getting there

Ferries from Eminönü, Karaköy and Beşiktaş to Kadıköy pier (about 20 minutes); Marmaray to Söğütlüçeşme or the M4 metro to Kadıköy.
