What to expect

Erciyes is the most developed ski area in central Anatolia: four gates around the mountain, gondolas from two of them and a long list of red runs down treeless slopes. On clear days the summit cone stands over the whole plateau.

It works well as a day trip from Kayseri or as a snow add-on to a Cappadocia stay; the operator puts Cappadocia about an hour away.

Mountain hotels sit at the Tekir gate, around 2,200 m; most visitors sleep in Kayseri and drive up.

Night skiing: Fridays and Saturdays on piste 13 at the Tekir gate until 20:00, weather permitting (operator FAQ).

Lifts also run on religious and national holidays (operator FAQ).

Getting there

Four gates (Develi, Tekir, Hisarcık, Hacılar) on a dual carriageway from Kayseri, about 20 minutes from the city centre according to the operator. In the ski season, municipal buses leave the Kaleönü stops at 08:30, 09:30, 10:30 and 11:30 on Saturdays and Sundays (daily in the school mid-term break) and return at 14:30–17:30; Develi minibuses run every 15 minutes from the Yoğunburç mini terminal. A ring bus links the gates at weekends.
