What to see

The valley runs out of Güzelyurt, the old Gelveri, and its soft rock walls are pierced with churches, chapels and rooms carved out in the Byzantine period. A path leads along the valley floor between them; it is a calmer, smaller counterpart to the Ihlara valley a few kilometres away.

One to one and a half hours on foot.

Paths and steps into the churches are uneven; a torch helps in the darker rooms.

Getting there

On the edge of Güzelyurt, about 1 km from the centre; from Ihlara village it is about 7 km in a straight line, by car.

Transport lines are general directions, not checked against the operator's timetable.
