What to see

The great rock face of the old acropolis, pitted with hundreds of small tomb openings, is the first thing you see. Below it, among pines, are the agora, temples, more decorated rock tombs — one carved with a relief of a walled city — and a small theatre. Ancient tradition says the city was founded by settlers from Xanthos, and the name was taken to mean "round" — a fair description of the upper acropolis.

One and a half to two hours; it is a quiet site with few visitors.

The last stretch of road up from Minare village is narrow and steep, and the paths are rough: good shoes, water and patience.

Getting there

Above Minare village, off the Fethiye–Kaş road about 19 km south-east of Fethiye town (straight line); by car.
