What to see

Built in the 1460s with its twin on the Asian side to control the narrows, the castle has a tall inner tower inside clover-leaf walls. Displays inside cover the castle and the Gallipoli campaign.

Allow an hour; the small ferry from Çanakkale makes it an easy half-day trip.

Closed on Mondays. The ministry page prints prices for Turkish citizens only.

Getting there

Small car ferries cross from Çanakkale to Kilitbahir every few minutes in daytime; the castle is by the landing.
