What to see

The old villages of Zeytinliköy, Tepeköy and Dereköy cling to the hills with stone houses and churches; the south and east coasts have beaches such as Aydıncık, next to a salt lake, where kite- and windsurfers gather.

Three days or more; distances are bigger than they look and a car or scooter helps.

July and August are windy and lively; late spring and September are calmer and greener.

Getting there

Car ferries sail from Kabatepe on the Gallipoli peninsula; the island also has a small airport.
