Klazomenai and its ancient olive-oil works

What to see

People lived at Liman Tepe here from around 6000 BC; the Ionian city followed, was abandoned after the Persian invasion of 546 BC and moved to the offshore Karantina (Quarantine) Island. The archaic olive-oil workshop, with its storerooms and two wells, was reconstructed in 2004–2005.

Thirty minutes to an hour; combine it with the waterfront and fish restaurants of Urla İskele.

Excavations continue in parts of the site.
