What to see

Columns and walls outline a basilica that was once one of the largest in the Byzantine world; the marked tomb of the apostle lies under the former altar. The castle on the hilltop behind is a separate site.

Allow 45 minutes to an hour.

Late afternoon light is good here, with views over Selçuk, the İsa Bey Mosque and the single standing column of the Temple of Artemis.
