What to see

The rock was hollowed out over centuries into dwellings and storerooms; stairs inside lead to a platform with a view over the valleys towards Ürgüp and Göreme. The old village around it has stone houses and the cool caves where citrus fruit and potatoes are stored.

Allow an hour including a walk through the village.

Getting there

Ortahisar lies between Göreme and Ürgüp, just off the main road; dolmuş minibuses on the Nevşehir–Ürgüp line stop at the junction.
