What to see

Two shelters cover the excavated parts of the mound, where you look down on the tightly packed mud-brick houses; a replica house near the entrance shows how the painted rooms, platforms and plastered bulls' horns looked when people lived in them.

Allow an hour. The real finds — wall paintings and figurines — are in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations in Ankara, and part of the site may be closed while excavations continue.

The plain has no shade; come in the morning in summer.

About 10 km north of Çumra and roughly 45 km south-east of Konya, by car, taxi or tour.
