A madrasa of 1310 in the centre of Erzurum with a richly carved portal and a tiled minaret, now a museum of Turkish-Islamic arts and ethnography.

What to see

Built under the Ilkhanids, the madrasa has a domed courtyard and a carved gateway with lions and a tree of life; the single surviving minaret is decorated with glazed brick.

Allow 45 minutes. The displays include Erzurum's black oltu stone jewellery and local costume.

Closed on Mondays (ministry page).

Getting there

On Cumhuriyet Caddesi in the centre, a few minutes from the Double Minaret Madrasa.
