What to see
The museum opened in 1966 and was rearranged in 2011, when the Yerkapı sphinx came back from Berlin and was shown together with its pair, previously in Istanbul. The halls run from the Chalcolithic to the Byzantine period, with a Hittite hall on the kingdom's politics, religion, army and writing, seal impressions and a bull-headed vase linked to the storm god.
