What to see

The lower floor holds a church, wine cellars, tombs and a water channel. Steps lead to the upper church, a single-nave building of the thirteenth century, one of the few of its kind in the region, painted with scenes from the Bible.

Twenty to thirty minutes; combine it with Açıksaray on the other side of the town.

The painted church is small — groups fill it quickly.

Getting there

At the entrance of Gülşehir as you arrive from Nevşehir. From Göreme it is about 20 km in a straight line; by car, or by bus from Nevşehir.
