What to see

The houses stand on the old city wall along the north bank; several are restored as guesthouses, cafés or house museums, among them the Hazeranlar mansion.

An evening stroll along both banks is the way to see them, ideally with dinner by the water.

The view with the floodlit tombs above is best after dark.
